The
Leominster Historical Society is pleased to announce that its
Summer 2004
Exhibit,
The Civil War, featuring
the Charles T. Brown letters, celebrated its Grand Opening on
June 19, with a special flag-raising ceremony by members of Scout Troop
477 The colors were raised accompanied by bagpiper Stuart Paul. The
exhibit will run until Fall.
The
exhibit highlights a rare collection of letters between Civil War soldier
Charles T. Brown and his dear wife Sarah, a Leominster teacher. The
letters, along with other rare artifacts and relics of war on display will
give you a glimpse into the lives of our brave ancestors from Leominster
and beyond, and from the perspective of the battlefield and the home
front.
Click here for more information about the
letters.
Self-guided
tours are free to the public during normal business hours (see calendar
below). Guided tours (private and semi-private) are fee-based and
available by reservation for your next group function. Call the Society
for arrangements (978) 537-5424.
Some of the items on display have never been publicly exhibited. As a
collection, they will not be seen again for decades to come. The Civil War
Exhibit also focuses on Leominster's soldiers, many attached to the 15th
Regiment MVI. Shown here are members of the 15th Mass. Regiment
reenactment group as they fired three volleys at opening ceremonies on
June 11. Discover what invited guests had to say...
If you would like more information or to reserve the exhibit for your next

Street, in the historic Field School Museum, during business hours (Tues.,
