The Civil War Exhibit was
launched at a private function on Friday, June 11, 2004. These are
some of the enthusiastic comments that were heard during the evening.
From
an education professional,
"I've
been to exhibits in Washington that aren't as good as this
one... We've got to get our students in to see this!"
From a professor of history,
"I plan on coming back
several times to really see the things I've missed tonight."
From one of the 15th Mass. Regiment reenactors
"This is a wonderful tribute
to our men. We'd like to get pictures and more information on them
from the Society for our own records."
From an avid Civil War buff,
"I can't believe we've had
all this right here in Leominster! I'll have to keep coming back to
see it all and learn more."
From a museum professional,
"This is such a complete,
well done presentation. I never expected it to be this
professional!"
From another
attendee,
"The letters are so powerful
and moving. How wonderful to see them."
And at the launch of the Civil
War Exhibit for the public on Saturday, June 19th... These
remarks were made, following the opening ceremony at which Scout
Troop 477 raised the Flag, then lowered it to half-mast in salute to
former President Reagan, and during which Scout Leader and
bagpiper, Stuart Paul piped the colors...
From an
independent PBS producer,
"I was driving by. I
stopped in when I saw the sign. This was a big surprise. I'm very
interested in your photographic collection, and I'll be back."
From the
curator of another Massachusetts historical museum,
"This
is a stunning collection. We need to present our story the way you
have. I'd like to take some notes and ask some questions. Perhaps a
collaboration might be beneficial to us both."
From a Civil
War group member,
"I hope to get everyone
from my group in to see this. It is such a terrific exhibit."
And from a
Girl Scout leader...
"I'd
like to get my girls involved in something this meaningful. I think
they'd like to be part of these events at the Society."
Why not come in, view the exhibit, and tell us what you
think?
